Business Chamber

The Kurri Kurri Business Chamber has established a new steering committee to move the town forward and take advantage of the future opening of the Hunter Expressway. This committee will seek constructive imput from stakeholders at Government, Local Government and the community to improve the local community and town design going into the future. “Without a Vision the people perish”

It is great to see some sence finally being applied to the Hunter region.

If the news is correct we will finally see the F3 the Branxton built. It has been a long time coming. More than thirty years in planning and much lobbying over the past ten years. Congratulations must go the Link or Sink Group and the Kurri Kurri District Business Chamber for their unwaving support of the project. It would have been great to see many more Hunter people back this project from the start instead of jumping on the bandwagon over the past year.

Welcome to 2009 a year where Kurri Kurri will see some great economic activity.

Centrelink will open new offices in Barton Street towards the end of March and we will see ALDI open one of their very successful Super Markets later in the year on the corner of Barton and Victoria streets. This business along with the new KFC development already in operation will bring a much needed economic boost to this part of town. It is also pleasing to see a new retail outlet in the old shoe store on the corner of Hampton and Lang Streets.

The Empire Hotel has changed hands and there is some much needed building works underway on this wonderful old hotel.

There is also a new Motel under construction on the Station Hotel site. This is a much needed addition in accommodation for the area.

We look forward to seeing more building activity during 2009 in particular on the HEZ industrial park.

Lastly we will become one of the BIG towns later in the year when the BIG Kookaburra is unveiled in Rotary Park. This is sure to bring additional tourists to town to complement the already popular Murals.
